Following a great deal of interest on the Free Movement Forum about a members meet up, Bilaal Shabbir of MBS Solicitors in Scotland has taken the initiative to arrange this in the form of an event in Scotland. An EU themed immigration law conference has now been arranged and will be hosted in Glasgow in an attempt to unite Scottish and English practitioners in this field.
RECENT DEVELOPMENTS AND NEW PERSPECTIVES FROM THE UK’S LEADING PRACTITIONERS AND ACADEMICS
WHEN: Friday, 8th September 2017. Registration will open from 9am and the event will close around 4pm followed by an opportunity to network. There will be a lunch break between 12:45pm and 2pm and two refreshment breaks throughout the day. Lunch will be provided. Halaal options will be provided.

This full day conference will examine topical areas of European Immigration Law and the impact of Brexit on those key areas. The event is designed to provide useful, practical guidance and expert insights into new developments in the law and legal practice, including:
- Updates on recent developments in case law across the UK;
- Scrutinising common issues in Permanent Residence applications;
- Replacements for the current EU asylum system post Brexit;
- Issues with Naturalisation and the impact of Dual Nationality on freedom of movement;
- Retained rights of residence;
- Contrasting the EEA Regulations with Appendix FM;
- Issues in EEA Deportation cases
- An Immigration System after Brexit
Delegates will have an opportunity to hear from distinguished Counsel at the Scottish and English Bar, experienced academics as well as expert practitioners from leading immigration firms throughout Scotland.
I will be in attendance as a speaker and to chair the event.
There is no charge for attendance but the event is likely to be in very high demand. Spacing is limited and prior booking will be necessary. Places will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis.
The event will be of particular interest to practitioners, academics, law students and stakeholders.
The event is eligible for 4.5 hours CPD.
Donations are welcomed and encouraged. In the first instance, donations will be used to meet costs for the venue, catering etc. Any surplus funds will be donated to a charity supporting immigration and asylum work and refugees. We recommend a donation of £20.
