We are recruiting for a new role at Free Movement: a Deputy Editor (Training). As the job title suggests, the job is to commission and edit new courses and keep our existing training materials up to date, including our range of ebooks. It is a really important role within Free Movement.
A salary of £30,000 to £35,000 pro rata will be paid depending on experience. We anticipate the role being equivalent to three days per week, although this is negotiable. Hours are extremely flexible and the role is a remote working one.
The role will report to the Editor. A very high degree of autonomy and initiative is required. The role will initially be on a self-employed basis. An ability to read and understand law is important but the person need not necessarily be an expert in immigration law themselves. The job will involve some writing to update existing materials but will principally involve commissioning and editing. It would be suitable for a person with professional legal editing experience or an immigration lawyer with editing and writing experience. Some editing and production of simple audio and video content will be required, but using straightforward software packages.
In related news, CJ McKinney has now formally taken on the title of Editor of Free Movement, a role he has in reality been performing excellently for quite some time. CJ does the day-to-day commissioning and editing and quite a bit of the writing as well. My own role is now more akin to Publisher or perhaps Editor-in-Chief and I am finally getting around to reconstituting Free Movement as a limited company.
