After a grand total of 50 votes, 74% of which were in favour of the new look, the new look is duly adopted. The four of you who hate the new look so much you plan to set up yet further ‘free movement’ immigration blog and update sites, good riddance. May you rest in the boring little corner of hell reserved for plagarists and John O.

More seriously, I hope you like the changes and thank you for reading. You are not alone, it turns out: there are over 600 email subscribers to the blog, 236 Twitter followers and rarely less than 1000 unique readers per week day.

You will no doubt notice that, along with the cosmetic changes, the blog now has a very slight commercial element to it, promoting the immigration team at Renaissance Chambers and also opening the possibility of guest or sponsored posts by other contributors, possibly on a commercial basis. If you are interested in contributing guest posts, have a look at the relevant page and get in touch.

  1. The order of COMMENTS has changed so that the earliest appears at the top, and the latest appears at the bottom.

Was this change deliberate, as I preferred it when the latest comment appeared at he top.

    1. I did sneakily change them around, but have changed them back for you. You’ve been reading and contributing long enough that you probably remember when I changed them the first time…

  2. To paraphrase one lonely male aslyum seeker from many years back: “I just need a Free Movement, don’t care what the Free Movement looks like or how old she is… I just need a Free Movement!”… :)

Just representing those who read you avidly but are sometimes too lazy, busy, timid etc to respond …glad you decided to stick around in any format.

  3. this has nothing to do with your new format (which is fine) but hopefully you watched the excellent richard dimbleby lecture in which a children’s author (whose name escapes me) spoke forcefully about the repugnant practice of locking up children in Yarlswood. It fired up a sceptical old immigration practitioner….

    1. Missed it, sorry! But on a less intellectual level, I did just catch my first sight of Come Fly With Me, which was hilarious.

Only ‘fine’, Immi? I guess I’ll have to take that. I have just been experimenting with some CSS code stuff and have worked out how to change the sidebar colour to something less bland…
